This course is designed to test your abilities and provide you will the tools to become a successful leader in the NSCC.
During POLA, you will be expected to act like a Petty Officer and to wear your uniform (hint, hint) like a Petty Officer.
Your leadership training will not stop after leaving POLA, but this training will be something you will soon never forget.

TRAVEL INSTRUCTIONS
If you are traveling to San Diego by airplane, train, or bus,
please email all travel information to LCDR Fred Estano, NSCC
or contact by telephone at (562) 857-0711 by 19 June 2008.
If you do not provide us with the information, no one will know to pick you up at the airport or train/bus station.
Failure to do so may also subject your POLA training orders to be cancelled.
When arriving at the San Diego Airport, cadets should proceed directly to baggage claim,
promptly claim their own luggage, and then proceed to the USO in Terminal 2. An uniformed NSCC Escort Officer will meet you at the USO.
Cadets arriving by bus or train will also be met at the respective station by a NSCC Escort Officer.
You may travel in civilian clothing but must change into dress uniform in the USO area, bus or train terminals.
This is required so that we may easily identify you when picking you up.
Cadets being brought by POV to the Naval Amphibious Base (NAB) Coronado should travel in dress uniform
and allow for time to familiarize themselves with the location of the training center (Directions to NAB Coronado).
Prior to entering onboard NAB Coronado, all vehicles must either have military vehicle decals or a temporary pass obtained
from the Pass and Decal Office. Proof of registration, proof of insurance, and a driver's license, will be required
when obtaining a temporary pass.
Due to heightened security onboard NAB Coronado, all cadets must insure they have their NSCC ID
card before arriving to POLA or risk being denied entry onboard and training orders cancelled.
Please bring at least $75.00 but not more than $100.00
spending money. There will be a variety of liberty opportunities where these funds will be
necessary. The cost of training is $75.00 (non-refundable). There are no fees due upon reporting.
CONDUCT AND DISCIPLINE
All personnel are responsible and accountable for their
behavior. We are guests aboard NAB Coronado and all hands will respect the rules
and regulations set forth. Cadets will be sent home immediately (at their own expense) upon disciplinary action
for any of the following, but not limited to, violations of NSCC and Navy Regulations:
- Smoking or use of tobacco products
- Unacceptable language, gestures, or behavior
- Destruction of government property
- Flagrant disregard for safety policies
- Drug or alcohol consumption
- Fraternization or Sexual Harassment
- Theft or vandalism
- Unauthorized absence
- Violation of the Honor Code
As during any other training, proper military courtesies will be extended, not only to all POLA
staff but also to all military personnel, both officer and enlisted. This means all cadets will render proper salutes, proper greetings, and
observe all military customs such as morning and evening colors. Whether in or out of uniform, you represent the finest the NSCC has to
offer. You are the future of the program and you must lead by example by doing all things required of you.
If you have any additional questions you may contact the COTC at
(562) 857-0711 or E-Mail: FESTANO@AOL.COM.
Sincerely,
LCDR Fred L. Estano, NSCC
